Almost all the modern vehicles consist various Electronic Control Units (ECUs) inside and a network inside the vehicle allows ECUs to communicate with each other is known as CAN (Controller Area Network). CAN bus is a set of two wires (CAN High & CAN Low) in the vehicle network where information can be sent to and from different ECUs.

The data getting exchanged over the CAN bus between various ECUs gives an opportunity to interface and tap through the OBD port. This can be achieved without disturbing the regular operations of a vehicle. Various types of data & information can be captured with regards to current condition of the vehicle.

The presence of CAN / OBD in vehicles allow BSTPL Telematics devices to fetch real time parameters such as RPM, Vehicle Speed, Fuel Usage, Gear Position, Pedal Position, Level of Different Oils Used, Coolant Temperature and many more. All such information collected can be used for analysing vehicle use & performance and driving behaviors like Over Speeding, Over Revving, Excessive Idling, trip start & end, fuel consumption …. Etc.

BSTPL developed different model Telematics devices with CAN / OBD feature which operates on different network combinations like 2G, 4G LTE and 2G + 4G LTE. With wide operating voltage of 9 – 100V, BSTPL CAN / OBD feature device can be used in standard vehicles which operates on 12V / 24V and Electric Vehicles which operates up to 90 to 100V
